9  Celebrating new year is a bi’da (innovation)  The prophet (S.A.W.) said, "You will surely follow the ways, steps, or traditions of those who came before you, span by span and yard by yard (very closely) even if they entered a lizard's hole you will enter it."  on new year’s eve people are engaged in activities that are against Islam. Ie) drinking, clubbing etc.  This shows that its not a day for Muslim celebrations, therefore we should not be a part of it even on a smaller scale.  Muslims have 2 annual festivals: Eid ul Fitr & Eid ul Adha

10  Prophet Muhammad(s.a.w) said: “On the day of Resurrection the feet of the son of Adam will not move till he is questioned about four things: how he spent his life, how he spent his youth, from where did he acquire his wealth and how he spent it and what did he do with his knowledge.  with every passing year you are going closer to your death, therefore at the end of a year sit back and reflect over your deeds.  Make new goals and resolution.  DO a lot of istighfar.

11  The Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Make the most of five things before five others: life before death, health before sickness, free time before becoming busy, youth before ld age and wealth before poverty.” (sahih al jaami)  Value time and utilize your youth in the obedience of Allah.  Race and compete in goodness with others.
