2 Data Democracy CEOS encourages members to share capability to the users in developing countries – Accessing datasets, software packages, dissemination models, and capacity building. One of the 2009 CEOS’ Priorities Plan/Goal – Continue to support Data Democracy activities – Expanding the program to developing countries in Asia, especially in the areas of software/tools and capacity building. – A seminar to introduce Data Democracy Program to Asian members – Coordinating and seeking for support from member agencies and Working Groups The 23 rd CEOS Plenary I Phuket, Thailand I 3-5 November 20092

13 2009 Deliverables: Capacity Building A Training Program on the utilisation of the data for the African Monitoring of Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) Project A Training Program for Data Democracy disc (Fundisa Disc) to South African and South African Development Community (SADC) Universities A GIS training course packaged with open source software for use at secondary school level in South Africa Training material and training programs (face to face and e- learning) for African end-users of CBERS images. 14 Coordination with GEO Proposals to GEO – Responded to GEO CFP for EO for Decision Support Projects A Concept Proposal was submitted on July 3 Full proposal to be submitted in January 2010 – Data Democracy Program is proposed as a new task in a current GEO WP (July 3) Being considered for approval in GEO VI Plenary
