2 Today’s Standard 3.4 Analyze the relevance of the setting (place, time, customs) to the mood, tone, and meaning of the text.

3 Setting refers to where and during what time period a piece of literature takes place. What is the setting of the novel The Martian Chronicles? (Mars, and parts of Earth between 1999-2026)

4 Mood Mood : The particular feeling or atmosphere of a piece of literature. For example it might be joyful, or scary, or sad, depending on the details given by the writer. What is the mood of The Martian Chronicles? ( It changes from chapter to chapter. Some are eerie, others are humorous, ect.)
