1. Uli Schäfer Discussions with H.B. after last meeting… All ATLAS standard racks and crates will be monitored. Helfrieds group will equip them with ELMBs and will be in charge of the readout into the PVSS system. For non-standard crates (eg. different power supplies etc.), we will be free to use spare analog channels of the rack monitoring ELMBs to read out our own power supplies or whatever we like to. We will require a Windows PC for the OPC server. Also a subdetector control station will be required. Both could be the same physical PC running Windows, if we are happy to locate our SCS where the CAN cable ends. It is not entirely excluded to use Helfrieds rack-control PCs if we have a sufficiently small- scale low-rate system. While the CERN OPC server is tailored to the needs of the ELMB, it is in fact able to handle any CANopen message. This has already been shown to work with some industry standard CANopen compliant sensors. Current hardware options for TCM: ELMB plus 2nd CAN chip CAN SAE81C91 (5-wire Interface) ELMB plus Fujitsu, emulating ADC data (I2C) ?

Need to order ELMBs by March 28th ! We need to decide whether to use ELMBs and how many. ADCs required at all? We would wish to have no more than 1 ELMB per crate, which normally supplies 64 analog data only. (  firmware / framework)  We need to start talking to f/w and s/w people for possibility to increase ‘virtual‘ analog channel count.
