5 Self-Knowledge & Assertiveness Past & Present: Try to make sense of your past. Do not sound apologetic; be self-confident. Do you know what makes you different from a student from an Applied English dept, or from a junior college? Present & Future: Do you really want to be an English teacher? Do you know what this profession involves and requires? Develop more social awareness — knowing what the employers want.

Usu. chronological; a story which is 1) an implied or explicit explanation of your career choice & preparation; Family? Preparation -- Starts from the basic training to the more advanced or career-related. 2) (best) followed by a career plan. Conclusion which wrap up all the major ideas!!!

8 Autobiography: example (application for a teaching job) As an English major, I have been immersed in an all-English environment for these three years. Besides speaking and writing in English in all of our courses, we are asked to acquire professional knowledge in several academic fields related to this language: literature, linguistics and TEFL. As a whole, these courses help us understand English and learning English in its cultural, theoretical and practical aspects.
