I. The Time  Gen 1:1 “In the beginning …….”  It is God statement. God wanted to say here is the story of God creation of the heaven and the earth.  Q. What was existing before this moment?  1. God’s angels already created (Gen3:24)  2. The rebellion of Satan (evil angels). (Ezekiel 28:14-16) Evil angels (Revelation 12:7-9)  3. The fallen of Satan (IS 14)  4. The Trinity

II. The Creator (God)  Gen 1:1 In the beginning GOD………………  Was God alone before the creation?  If we say God was alone, that means He is a selfish God.  The Creed  God is Love 1John 4:8-16  Whom did God love before the creation of the angels, the world, and the people?  (John 17: 20-24)  “For you have loved me before the foundation of the world.”  But if the Father loved only the Son, we can call this love “Exclusive love” That means it is not a perfect love

II. The Creator (God)  What is the perfect love?  Types of love  The Father loved the Son and was able to share this love with others through the Holy Spirit.  This kind of love we called “Inclusive love”  This is the function of the Holy Spirit.  (John 17:26) “The love with which you loved me maybe in them and I in them.”  The Father is the lover (John 13:24)  The Son is the Love (1John 3:16). The HS is the Spirit of love (2Tim 1:7)  We can experience the Trinity in a true Christian Family

III. The Act- Created  Gen 1:1 “ In the beginning God Created”  In Hebrew the word means “bava” to create from nothing.  The word is used three times in Genesis which marks the introduction of three spheres of existence  1. Of matter -Gen.1:1  2. Of animal life and all living creatures -Gen.1:21.  3. And the creation of human life- Gen.1:27

IV. The Condition of the earth.  Ge.1:2 “ The earth without form, Void and darkness”  The condition of the world is typical to the state of people who are far from God.  1. Without form- no objective in life  2. Void- Empty, dissatisfied Matt. 12:44, Eph. 5:6  3. Dark- Eph: 5:8, 1 John 1:5, John 3:19 and this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather that light, because their deeds were evil.

V. The spirit of God & The Waters  Gen 1:2” And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.  Hovering is to remain floating & to be waving.  The Holy Spirit is described as Dove. Matt 3:16 “ He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove”  When the Dove laying on an egg.  “As the expression “hover” St. Basil says that a Syrian scholar believes that the Syrian language is capable of giving more meaning than Hebrew; being translated as “to embrace” as through the spirit like a bird embraces eggs to provide them with life through its own warmth.

V. The spirit of God & The Waters  St Clement of Alexandria “The new creation is realized by the water and the Spirit in the same way that the world was created when the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”  What is The relationship between the water and The Spirit?  The Story of Nicodemus John 3  John 3:5 “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God”  St. Cyril of Jerusalem “The water was the beginning of the world, as the Jordan was the beginning of the Gospel. The first water & Spirit begot life, so one should not wonder that water and Spirit of baptism is also able to grant new life”.
