A Parameter Study of Fast Cookoff
2
Purpose 1.Examine the effect of five parameters on the incident heat flux to an energetic device A.Fire Size B.Container Location (height and radial location) C.Wind Speed D.Fuel Evaporation Rate 2.Examine the effect of the resulting heat fluxes on the ultimate behavior of the container A.Time to Ignition B.Time to Container Rupture C.Violence of Explosion 3.Examine the ability of Uintah to make predictive calculations for our target scenario
3
General Scenario Pool Diameter:0.5 m - 1.0 m Container Height:0.25 m - 1.0 m Container Offset:0.0 - 1.0 m Wind Speed:0.0 - 4.0 m/s Fuel Evaporation:1.6 - 6.4 (mm/min)
4
Strategy - Part 1 MPMArches simulations of fire with container compute radiative heat flux at discrete locations on container surface Polar curve fit to discrete heat flux at several points along the axis
5
Strategy - Part 2 Implicit MPM code computes heat conduction using heat flux values interpolated from the curve fits. Upon reaching ignition criteria, code switches automatically to explicit AMR MPM-ICE calculation
