How is the price of iPad determined? By the idea of the price mechanism is determined by the interaction of demand and supply force

In the short run, an increase in demand raises the equilibrium price and quantity supplied of the iPad in the market and vice versa, ceteris paribus. Contrastingly, in the short run, an increase in supply will lower the price and, in turn, will cause an increase in quantity demanded of the iPad and vice versa, ceteris paribus. When there is a simultaneous change in demand and supply of the iPad, prices will increase, regardless of the magnitudes of the changes.

Producers Recent developments like the emergence of newer alternatives pose challenges to the sale of the iPad.

For example… companies such as Notion Ink and Microsoft have come up with the Adam and the Microsoft Courier respectively. Like the iPad, both devices serve to provide audio-visual entertainment as well as web-surfing. Notion Ink’s Adam even boasts a 3.2 Megapixel swivel camera. The release of such goods would increase competition in the market for the iPad.

Thus in order to stay competent, Apple would have to take into account -the prices and -features of their competitors’ gadgets and alter their marketing strategies and pricings accordingly.

Late last year, Apple’s iPad had received the China Compulsory Certification, a safety certification mark from the China Quality Certification Center, putting it on a path that could see the future release of the popular tablet computer in China.

By receiving the certification, the iPad has cleared a major government hurdle to allow the product to be exported and sold to the Chinese market. The iPad is mainly sold to Western and Asian countries, and Apple would have to alter its marketing plans to suit the Chinese consumer’s taste.

Speculations of the iPad arriving in the Chinese market has inspired Chinese companies to join the trend of developing tablet computers, however, as much as the alternatives would be cheaper, the iPad would still attract consumers who have the purchasing power to get it.
