Bruce R. McConkie “ In Third Nephi, chapter 20, he [Christ] speaks of the millennial gathering of Israel. Then in chapter 21, he tells of the establishment of the United States of America; of the coming forth of the Nephite word in the Book of Mormon; of the restoration of his everlasting gospel; of the triumph of Israel over their Gentile foes when the Millennium is ushered in; and of the end of evil and wickedness in that glorious day of peace and righteousness. Then he speaks of the New Jerusalem in America; of the gathering of people to it before he comes; and of his coming to dwell in the midst of his people. ‘ And then ’— after the gathering of Israel to the New Jerusalem —‘ shall the power of heaven come down among them. ’ This refers to the Second Coming. ‘ And I also will be in the midst. ’ He shall reign personally upon the earth. ‘ And then ’— after his return and during the Millennium —‘ shall the work of the Father commence at that day, even when this gospel shall be preached among the remnant of this people. ’ There is to be a millennial gathering of the Lehite people. ‘ Verily I say unto you, at that day ’— note it well, the day involved is millennial —‘ shall the work of the Father commence among all the dispersed of my people, yea, even the tribes which have been lost, which the Father hath led away out of Jerusalem. ’ The Ten Tribes are to return after the Second Coming. Their establishment in their land of promise shall not come to pass until there is a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. ” (The Millennial Messiah, pp. 323-324)

Boyd K. Packer “ He [President Benson] always kept this verse from the Book of Mormon in his wallet; [3 Nephi 22:17]. And always this statement was kept on his desk or in his study; ‘ Be right, and then be easy to live with, if possible, in that order. ’ ” (Remarks made at the funeral of Pres. Benson, Ensign, July 1994, p. 32)

Spencer W. Kimball “What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life?… Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity… Begin today and write in it your goings and your comings, your deeper thoughts, your achievements, and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies… Those who keep a personal journal are more likely to keep the Lord in remembrance in their daily lives.” (Ensign, Dec. 1980, p. 61)

Gordon B. Hinckley “The Lord has promised that he will rebuke the devourer for our sakes…May not that rebuke of the devourer apply to various of our personal efforts and concerns? There is the great blessing of wisdom, of knowledge, even hidden treasures of knowledge. We are promised that ours shall be a delightsome land if we will walk in obedience to this law. I can interpret the word land as people, that those who walk in obedience shall be a delightsome people. What a marvelous condition to be a delightsome people whom others would describe as blessed!” (Ensign, May 1892, p. 40)

Harold B. Lee “…the promise following obedience to this principle [the law of tithing] is that the windows of heaven would be open and blessings would be poured out that we would hardly be able to contain. The opening of the windows of heaven, of course, means revelations from God to him who is willing thus to sacrifice.” (Ensign, Nov. 1971, p. 16)

Hartman Rector Jr. “Those who pay tithing will have roots and branches at the last day and those who do not will have neither roots nor branches. Now what are our roots? Obviously our roots are our ancestors. And what are our branches? They are our children. Tithing is necessary in order to receive the blessings of the temple. If a man were to keep all of the Lord’s commandments with the exception of tithing, he still could never be married for time and all eternity in the temple; thus he would have neither roots nor branches at the last day. Then this becomes really serious, since there is no exaltation without your family. Without tithing there is no exaltation.” (Conference Report, Apr. 1983, pp. 35-36)
