Overview of Resources  ‘Resources’ refers to both teaching materials and administrative materials on modules and Intranet sites.  Resources can be used as places to attach existing files, places to create new content or a combination of the two.

Modules and Intranet Sites Have the same core functionality, but: Modules are for course-related information, Intranet Sites are for general admin information. Viewable by all, but must be registered in order to create materials. Content authors can alter all resources, so careful planning/collaboration required.

Resource Library Only accessible by registered Staff. Place to store page element for use in Resources. Upload images, videos and sound files. Add sound files to Podcasts. Each Module/Intranet Site has its own private Resource Library.

Organisation of Resources Resources can by organised in a several ways: Folders Separators List position adjustment Logical and simple organisation assists students and reduces chance of accidental editing/deletion. Hide Resources until a specified date.

Creating Resources (1) Click on ‘Create a Resource’ Always enter a Title Fill in any optional information 3 ways to enter content: Basic editor (need to know HTML) Simple editor (limited features) Advanced Editor (Word-like editing, needs Java)

Creating Resources (2) Upload any attachments Click ‘Save’ or ‘Cancel’ Similar to an email – mandatory subject, optional message and/or attachments.

Using the Advanced Editor You MUST save in the editor AND save in StudyNet. Similar to a standard word processor. Allows linking to other Resources in StudyNet. Can import video, sound and images from the Resource Library.

Managing Staff and Student Lists ‘Manage People and Groups’. Class Lists available and can be exported to Excel. Staff Lists available for display. Registered staff can add other staff. Access levels of staff can be adjusted: Read-only access, write access, etc.
