The spinning jenny was made in 1764, and made by James Hargreaves. It was made in the Industrial Revolution . The importance of the Spinning Jenny was the increase in production of spun yarn. A spinning wheel had one spindle to wind yarn. The original Spinning Jenny had eight spindles but later models had over 100. A huge productivity increase per hour.

3. James Hargreaves
James Hargreaves received no formal education and was never taught how to read or write. James Hargreaves worked as a carpenter and a weaver. Legend has it that James' daughter Jenny knocked over a spinning wheel and as he watched the spindle roll across the floor the idea for the spinning jenny came to him. However, that story is just a legend. Jenny was rumored to have been the name of James' wife and that he named his invention after her.
