3 First, find water  The Provo River  Lake Powell  The Green River  Deer Creek Reservoir

4 Second, know the rating Class I Class I This means the water is calm and smooth. Small, if any, rapids exist; dangers can easily be avoided.

5 Class II Class II This water contains small rapids that are easily seen. They provide a smooth ride and low risk level.

6 Class III Class III These rapids cause boats to bounce and are sometimes unpredictable in direction. Risks are medium and training and experience aid the rider.

7 Class IV Class IV Water becomes large with strong currents in this class. They carry high risks and features such as large waves, holes, or unpredictable currents. High experience is needed to successfully navigate.

8 Class V Class V These rapids are found in raging rivers and can only be ridden by experts. Dangers and risks are severe due to long and high rapids and waves.
