2. Mission Overview: -To verify the functionality of the University of Cincinnati’s preliminary thermal switch design -Specifically to test for: - Switch actuation -Actuation time -Duration the switch is open/closed

3. SHOT II / UN-4 Connection: -The SHOT II mission supports the BEARSat by testing the actuation of the thermal switch and provides the feedback for further development of the thermal switch -This test provides a test of the thermal switch at reduced pressures

4. SHOT II Design and Test Details: -Design consists of thermal switch, data acquisition board, heaters, heater control, temperature sensors, a proximity sensor, and batteries. -The thermal switch is made from schedule L copper pipe, paraffin wax, two o-ring gaskets, and an aluminum piston. -In order to test the thermal switch during the flight heat will be added to the switch to test the actuation. Temperature data is going to be taken for use in cycle analysis. - Mass of the total system is approximately 1250 grams. - The flight string will be attached through a threaded PVC pipe that has been threaded and has bolts and washers where it passes through the containment box

5. Expected Results: The test results should show a cycle of heating times and the temperatures that correspond to the temp needed to actuate the switch. -The temperature of actuation is expected be a constant. -Actuation time is expected to decrease as pressure decreases.
