2 Today’s Lecture Design studio II continued © 2010 University of California, Irvine – André van der Hoek2June 12, 2015 – 07:51:20

3 Design Studio II – Part II You have identified the key design decisions, their relationships, three alternative choices per decision, (mis-)alignment among choices, and selected the choices for each decision that make up the essence of your design It is now time to construct your final design, consisting of two parts: –a detailed user interface design, with associated storyboards (as necessary to explain the user interface)  what are the user’s controls, and how is feedback provided? –a UML diagram of the key classes in your design, especially those detailing roads, traffic, cars, intersections, traffic flow, … (no need for classes detailing the user interface or other peripheral issues)  what classes decide how the simulation actually works and evolves? © 2010 University of California, Irvine – André van der Hoek3June 12, 2015 – 07:51:20

4 Design Studio II – Part II Today: use Calico in small groups to discuss the individual “design essence’s” that each group member forwarded, reflect on which set of key design decisions is better (or which set can be merged to be even better), and brainstorm different ways of transforming this design essence into concrete design proposals Your final design is due at the beginning of class, November 4 This is an individual assignment © 2010 University of California, Irvine – André van der Hoek4June 12, 2015 – 07:51:20
