3 Data collection and Administration Online vs. Print The online text may be differ and may even be a digest (summary). Therefore, always make a clear distinction between the online and print version. Online Abstract may not accurately represent the full article. Some abstracts are not written by the author at all but by an editorial staff.  avoid quote the abstract from the online source.

4 Bad thing about Internet sources You may find articles that are not worthy of citation in your research paper. You must filter: - personal opinion that could come in your computer screen. - commercial sites, that disguised in informative articles - biased articles that mislead the reader.

5 Online data administration Prefer the.edu.gov and.org sites The.com (commercial) can be suspected as selling and advertising sites. Always look for professional affiliation of the writers Look for a bibliography that may accompany the article. Be careful with blog, usenet discussion group because of lack of reasoning or evidence. Always criticize the value of the websites you are referring to.

6 Gathering data inside the library Online: Search Engines: 1. Sub directory search engine Human compiled and indexed: eg. www.about.com www.google.com 2. Educational search engine Provide subject indexes to various disciplines eg. www.searcheduc.com www.searchbooks.com www.ipl.sils.umich.edu
