1 Mixed Initiative MURI Feedback Kickoff Meeting, Sep 07 Technical –Recognize that this is a very hard problem –Liked extending links between cognitive and social psychology –Underlying themes of communications and decision making in each of the talks – complimentary views –Work toward common list of terms/definitions (potential goal of upcoming workshop) – When setting up experiments, be sure the dynamic elements are capable of destabilizing the system objectives (don’t abstract away lower level dynamics in that they may destabilize higher order decision processes)

2 Mixed Initiative MURI Feedback Kickoff Meeting, Sep 07 Collaboration –We are very excited about the team –Genuine interest from engineers to collaborate with psychologists and vice versa –Some connections that we’re already seeing, e.g. Phil and Debbie, John cognitive/social activities Phil and Debbie excited about Francesco’s formulation Juris excited about David’s stochastic programming formulations Others –Need further discussions at working level –Organize sessions within conferences. Joint journal articles. –Sharing students & post docs

3 Mixed Initiative MURI Feedback Kickoff Meeting, Sep 07 AF Relevance –Juris strong insight into military culture and decision making –Think about final measures of merit (NOT looking for vignettes and demos as an end product) –Don’t focus too much on surveillance missions –Be sure to reach out to other related efforts (MURIs, DCT, etc)
