Plant cells have a vacuole, which is like a water balloon. When a vacuole is full of water, it causes the cell to expand, like air in tires, and the plant has strength to stand tall. No water in vacuole = Wilted/Drooping plant  Elodea is a plant. Salt water will cause water from vacuole to leave cells.
