4 Children and Family Services This EYPP briefing session will support you in understanding what the EYPP is and why we need it identifying children who are eligible for the EYPP effectively communicating the EYPP to parents/carers spending the premium on effective interventions to ensure it makes a difference identifying children’s learning needs correctly and tracking their progress demonstrating the impact of interventions establishing strategies to support the first few months of delivery Finding further information, support and guidance

If we show as a sector that the EYPP works, we will have the grounding to keep on pushing for more. Are you committed to making it work?

8 Children and Family Services What is the Early Years Pupil Premium? £50 million in 2015-16 to extend the pupil premium into the early years. Introduced from April 2015 The EYPP will provide early years providers with additional support for disadvantaged 3 & 4 year olds (accessing FEEE) The EYPP will be paid at an hourly rate, in addition to the rate for the funded entitlement (53p per child per hour) Money will follow the child LA’s are required to fund any provider rated ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ but can attach conditions to funding ‘requires improvement’ providers

14 Children and Family Services Spending the Early Years Pupil Premium “ It ain’ t what you spend but the way that you spend it… ” (EEF) It must be used to improve the early years education of disadvantaged children How it is spent must be based on research of what really works. Providers will be held accountable for how they have used the EYPP at Ofsted inspection Providers need to develop an action plan to detail how they intend to spend the money

31 Children and Family Services Supervision Toolkit Good supervision can give staff an opportunity to reflect on their practice, explore any worries or concerns about the welfare of children in the setting and contribute towards developing confident and competent staff groups. All of these are known to be important in establishing safe organisations where children are safeguarded from harm. This Toolkit will provide information to support managers and staff to undertake effective Supervision, it will highlight the difference between Supervision and Appraisal and the Appendix includes ready to use forms.
