Pg. 128 RTW: How was your weekend? Objective: – I will be able to describe the importance of a common naming system to classify organisms. Agenda: – Finish Classification Activity Homework: – None Monday, April 13 th, 2015

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS Write and answer these below your classification chart: 1. On what basis did you initially separate organisms? 2. After the initial grouping, what characteristics did you use as distinguishing factors? 3. Specify the kingdoms that were noted in your separations (your very first division) 4. In terms of shared characteristics, what happens as you make more subdivisions?

Classification Activity if absent… The alternative assignment is to list the 5 kingdoms: – Discuss their characteristics – Explain how scientists break up organisms into different categories.

Pg. 128 RTW: What are the 5 kingdoms? Objective: – I will be able to describe the importance of a common naming system to classify organisms. Agenda: – Introduce “Fish Food” Project – Get into groups & begin research Homework: – Fish Food Project Tuesday, April 14 th, 2015

Fish Food Project!! You will be working in groups and creating a lesson for the class based on your phylum/class/order: – PowerPoint – Guided Notes – Activity – Quiz (10 questions) – Snack I will give you this week to research and create your documents for your lesson.

Fish Food Projects!! Get into groups 3-4. We need 9 total groups so don’t get too attached we may have to move you. (Note: choose wisely) – P1 (6 groups of 3 & 3 group of 4) – P3 (6 groups of 3 & 3 group of 4) – P4 (4 groups of 3 & 5 group of 4) – P5 (8 groups of 3 & 1 group of 4) – P6 (4 groups of 3 & 5 group of 4) – P7 (8 groups of 3 & 1 group of 4) Note: This grade will be a summative!

Today’s Work: 1.Get general facts about your phylum/class/order 2.Start brainstorming activity/snack ideas 3.Look for habitat/reproduction/human impacts/adaptations 4.By the end of today you should have a list of facts and brainstorm ideas started.

Pg. 128 RTW: What is one interesting thing about your phylum/class/order? Objective: – I will be able to describe the importance of a common naming system to classify organisms. Agenda: – Work on Fish Food Project (book) Homework: – Fish Food Project Wednesday, April 15 th, 2015
