2 Bio Miyamoto was born on November 16 th 1952, in the small Japanese town of Sonobe As a child he had an interest in exploring the surrounding forests and caves, which later influenced his video game designs Miyamoto went on the graduate from Kanazawa Municipal College of Industrial Arts, however he had no job offers at first

3 Miyamoto and Nintendo Miyamoto started his long-lasting relationship with the game empire Nintendo by designing the game Radar Scope in 1980 By 1981, Nintendo hadn’t gain success in the western market and we’re nearing bankrupt They called upon Miyamoto to help convert Radar Scope into a new arcade game. After this success, Miyamoto was given the task of converting the company along with Nintendo's head engineer, Gunpei Yokoi

4 The creation of “Donkey Kong” Initially, Miyamoto’s concepts for new games seemed unattainable However, through his dedication and imagination, Miyamoto gave birth to the game “Donkey Kong” It featured a love-triangle between a gorilla, a warehouse landlord and a beautiful girl The concept was simple, “Donkey Kong” the gorilla would roll barrels at “Mario Segale” the jump man and the goal was to save “Pauline”

5 Donkey Kong Continued The Donkey Kong franchise continued to flourish during the 80s and 90s and all the way into the new millennium New characters and villains were introduced throughout the series Donkey Kong games spun off variations of racing games, educational games, and even coined the pop phrase in the 90’s, “It’s on like Donkey Kong” The Donkey Kong game series has garnered 7 Guinness World Records, including "First Use of Visual Storytelling in a Video Game” and "Most Collectible Items in a Platform Game

6 …and then came Mario! Miyamoto went on the develop a game that focused on the jump man Mario, called Mario Bros. His appearance of a thick mustache and overalls better suited a position of a plumber The game was created in a left-to-right design, with many series of pipes and pipe levels (theme of plumber) and Miyamoto introduced the character Luigi: Mario’s brother!

7 Super Mario Bros Continued Super Mario Bros. is the second best-selling video game of all time and has sold over 40 million units worldwide The game has spun many alternate variations, even one’s feature Luigi as the main character! Luigi (Luigi’s mansion) The game also ranked number 1 on Electronic Gaming Monthly's "greatest 200 games of their time" list! 3 3

8 The Legend of Zelda After a few smaller side projects, with Miyamoto’s keen ability for game design he created another stellar game The Legend of Zelda focused on game play, riddles and puzzles and broke the linear style of video games The levels and graphics were inspired by Miyamoto’s childhood, exploring the forests and caves of Sonobe

9 Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development (EAD) In the 1990’s Miyamoto was given the position to head Nintendo’s merger of international development teams The graphics for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System used a Super FX chip with gave his games a new dimension of 3D Miyamoto helped design new launches of Star Fox and many of his previous franchises 3 3

10 Personal Life Shigeru found love in the Nintendo Company! He married a woman named Yasuko. She worked in Nintendo's general administration department They bought a small house near the Nintendo company so he could walk or bike to work everyday Shigeru and Miyamoto have two children, a girl and a girl 3 3

11 Conclusion Miyamoto has also created over 110 video games for Nintendo’s many consoles In 1996 he was featured in Time Asia Magazine’s “60 Years of Asian Heroes” along side of Bruce Lee, the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa He is praised as one of the best video game creators of all time, and in on March 7, 2007, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Game Developers Choice Awards

12 Given the title of the “Spielberg” of video game, Shigeru Miyamoto has left a huge impression on the video game world "Nintendo is the company which makes the most innovative products. I am not sure that would be able to make games like that elsewhere. At Nintendo I can make the games which I want” –Shigeru Miyamoto
