6 DISC Judicial Database Systems Project Background  Project commissioned by Tippecanoe County Probation Department Previous system was delivered in 2002 based on Microsoft Access New version requested in 2005 Current design proposed in 2009 6

7 DISC Judicial Database Systems Design Requirements  Training requirements of parole officers require new system to be similar to the old system Some requests made to improve business logic in specific ways  Must work with Probation Department’s software Windows Server, ASP.NET, IIS, Microsoft SQL Server Support Firefox 3 and up, as well as IE 7 and up 7

15 DISC Judicial Database Systems Mail Merge  Need to be Fixed at the Semester’s Start  One of the most commonly used/important features  Uses Database Fields to Create a Word Document 15

16 DISC Judicial Database Systems Delete  Project Originally Had No Way to Delete Records  Delete does a hard Delete of Database Records  Requires Multiple Confirmations Avoids unintentional deletion  Has Error Reporting in Case of Failure 16
