Writing Cover Letters Purpose is to direct the employer to the key features of your resume. Opportunity to add points not evident in your resume. Use ‘businesslike’ communication – clear, concise. Customize your cover letter to each position. Should not be more than 1 page.

Tips for Writing Cover Letters Use short sentences that can be read quickly. Omit any information that isn’t critical to the job. Highlight your relevant skills and background. Be positive & concentrate on the qualifications that you do have (not on those you don’t). Proofread your letter before sending.
