7  Targets and Objectives are the environmental goals for West Lafayette for the fiscal year.  Targets and Objectives are updated annually and prioritized by the West Lafayette EMS Committee  West Lafayette EMS Targets and Objectives can be viewed by contacting your Location Environmental Officer: Danielle Cooley danielle.cooley@ars.usda.gov (765) 494-5607 West Lafayette EMS Targets and Objectives

8  Increase double-sided printing by all employees whenever feasible.  Increase use of alternative fuels in government vehicles.  Decrease overall use of fuel in government vehicles by 5% annually.  Promote “green” purchasing by cardholders.  Increase recycling of paper, cardboard, aluminum, etc. West Lafayette EMS Targets and Objectives

9  Internal audit of the EMS program is completed each year.  Every three years the EMS program is audited by a second party (outside the scope of the West Lafayette EMS program).  Necessary corrective actions are documented and placed in the next year’s Targets and Objectives

10  Management reviews annual audits  Management reviews progress on EMS Targets and Objectives  Management assesses opportunities for environmental improvement  Management updates the EMS Policy Statement to ensure continual environmental improvement

11  Read and comply with the West Lafayette EMS Policy Statement  Take annual EMS training to maintain awareness  Review West Lafayette EMS Targets and Objectives  Assist with reaching EMS Targets and Objectives wherever possible ◦ Recycle ◦ Use less toxic materials ◦ Be energy efficient ◦ Conserve water ◦ Purchase products containing recycled materials ◦ Use the most fuel efficient vehicles possible for the task West Lafayette staff EMS responsibilities

12  EMS is a management tool to help prevent environmental compliance problems and encourage continuous environmental awareness and improvement  EMS is a journey, not a destination. We will always be working towards environmental improvement.  EMS is the responsibility of all staff.  If we don’t document, it didn’t happen. Please keep records.
