3 Background 3 rd year in a row that a DDI 3 tools panel has been presented at IASSIST –1 st year: “People are really going to do it – it’s not just talk!” –2 nd year: “Lots of people are really going to do it – it’s not just talk – seriously!” –This year… “Which tools are there for me to use?”

4 Scope This panel is not comprehensive – there are some other tools being presented here at IASSIST (Session D1 – Thursday 10:30) –Paul Lambert: A Data Curation Application Using DDI: The DAMES Data Curation Tool –Alerk Amin: Building the Infrastructure for Enhanced Publications Using DDI 3 –Andias Wira-Alam: Implementing DDI 3: A Case Study of the German Microcensus

5 First and Second Sessions First Session: Tools now available, or to be made available very soon –Some are commercial, some open source, some available on other terms Second Session: Tools to be made available on a longer time-frame –Also addresses some common topics of interest to all implementers, not only tools

7 Final Note At the DDI Expert Committee meeting, a further commitment was made to enhancing and maintaining the DDI Tools database
