Brief Introduction to hAMSter VHDL-AMS Simulation Environment

1 Introduction to hAMSter  Open hAMSter  Load example: mixed_mode_simple.vhd Left Click to continue

2 Introduction to hAMSter Components of mixed_mode_simple.vhdand their VHDL-AMS description : Components of mixed_mode_simple.vhd and their VHDL-AMS description : To understand implementation refer to VHDL-AMS Short Reference provided on the web site

3 Introduction to hAMSter Open simulation dialog  Here you can choose the model to be simulated  Choose ‚TR‘ for transient analysis  You should choose ‚Euler‘ as Integrator for better performance  You can choose one of three methods for solving nonlinear equation systems  Choose simulation period of 5 ms  The ‚Min Stepsize‘ should be shorter than fastest signal changes  Make Max Stepsize‘ shorter for accurate results and longer to improve performance Left Click to continue

4 Introduction to hAMSter Open simulation dialog  Model hierarchy is shown on the right side  The defined Terminals are listed under ‚Consolidated Nodes‘  The assigned signals, quantities and generics are listed under ‚Nonconsolidated Nodes‘  Choose the signals u_c, v_in, and output to get the simulation results  Click ‚Run‘ to start simulation Left Click to continue

5 Introduction to hAMSter hAMSterView opens  Right Click in Channel Window opens the Channel Dialog  Choose ‚Best Representation‘ to scale the the Y-axis automatically  Or ‚Edit Coordinate System…‘ to manipulate the Axis manually Left Click to continue
