Animal-like: heterotrophs, unicellular, motile, AKA: protozoans Examples: amoeba, paramecium 2. Fungus-like: heterotrophs, have cell walls, reproduce by spores, motile Examples: water molds, slime molds motile- able to move spontaneously and actively 3. Plant-like: heterotrophs or autotrophs, unicellular or multicellular, eukaryotes Examples: seaweed, plankton, algae habitatMoist surroundings Examples: lakes, rivers, swamps impactCan cause malaria in humans FYI: Some protists are parasites, which live in or on another animal or “host.” They rob their host of food and nutrients while thriving themselves.
