3 Major difference between Tecnomagnete and Electro-magnets No electricity is used to maintain holding force Small amount of electricity is needed to energize and de-energize the magnet for 1-5 seconds only No moving or wearable parts in the magnet or controller

5 How does the magnet work?

6 By sending electrical current to the magnet for 1-2 seconds, the North South polarity of the Alnico magnet can be swapped to South North, this influences the magnetic field of the Neodinium magnets causing the magnetic field to be above the surface of the mag plate when on and below it when off.

9 All Tecnomagnete Permanent Magnets Die clamps are safer than mechanical clamps Since no electrical current is used during press operation, loss of power does not change the clamping force Since the magnetic force is 205lbs per square inch in many cases the total force you can achieve is higher than mechanical Example: Die size is 48”X72” the max force you can achieve with magnetic clamping would be 350 tons of force which is the equivalent to 32-11 ton mechanical clamps. With T-slots on 6” centers front to back you could not fit 32-11 ton clamps, you would be lucky to fit 24 on a 72” wide die Since the magnetic clamping system can monitor itself and shut the press down if a fault occurs you cannot have a stroke without the die being properly clamped Since the force of the magnet is the same every time, the clamping force is the same regardless of the person clamping the die. Since the magnetic force is from permanent magnets the force cannot change and the greatest force the magnet would ever “see” is with the die closed eliminating the possibility a die can fall. If a die were to lock up due to double blanking or broken parts and the forces needed to open the die become larger than the forces the magnet can generate, the magnet lets go all at one time and the entire die is left in stuck on the bottom while the proximity sensor shuts the press off before the next stroke. If this situation is faced with mechanical clamps the chance that only the clamps on the front, or back, or one side may break or slide which could allow the die to be pushed out of the press instead of being stuck on the bottom with e-stop being activated. If this were to happen you rely on the operator to hit e-stop while dodging the moving die.

10 Magnetic field Since the magnets are permanent, not electromagnets, the magnetic field remains completely controlled and never extends beyond 1” from the surface of the magnet This eliminates the possibility of magnetizing the entire die This eliminates the possibility of magnetizing the press This eliminates the problem of scrap accumulating on the magnet or the die Since the magnets are permanent the system must go through a de-mag cycle to turn it off which de-magnetizes any slugs that manage to stick to the magnetic area not covered by a die The Quad-system magnetic circuit does not use the frame of the magnet as a live magnetic pole, this means that even when the magnet is energized, only the magnetic squares or poles are magnetic, not the entire frame. This enables Tecnomagnete to have holding force only where you need it, not all over the place

12 Safety features UCS alarm (current sensor during mag or de-mag eliminates the chance you try to use the magnet in anything other than full mag state due to unseen internal damage to the magnet that may occurred due to improper set-up, or power fluctuations you are otherwise unaware of) FCS sensor (magnetic sensor during mag eliminates the chance you try to use the magnet with low magnetic quality of die shoe or too large and air gap) Proximity sensor (set at.007 eliminates the chance to magnetize the magnet with your fingers between the magnet and the die and shuts the press down through the e-stop circuit if a detachment of the die occurs.) BDC relay (will not allow de-mag cycle unless press is at bottom eliminating the chance to de-mag with die open accidentally) Spring key switch (to prevent accidental mag or de-mag and control personnel that can mag-de-mag the magnets if desired)

17 All Quad-stamp magnet systems have magnetic sensor(FCS)built in to one of the magnetic poles on the upper and one on the lower and an indicator light lets the die setter know the die is within minimum spec of magnetic quality and within flatness tolerance of.007

18 All Quad-stamp magnet systems have proximity sensor and indicator light to let the die setter know the die is flat on the magnet within.007 to prevent having a slug underneath and to shut the press off if a separation occurs

19 Tecnomagnete Quad Stamp systems can be designed to accommodate scrap through the bolster

21 Since the magnetic field is controlled it will not interfere with scrap removal
