2  A famous queen of ancient Briton  Born in 30AD  Married Prasutagus, King of the Iceni in south East England  Believed to be of royal decent

3  When her husband died, Boudica took over the leadership of the Iceni.  She slaughtered a Roman army.  She torched Londinium (London), leaving a charred layer almost half a meter thick that can still be traced under the modern city.

4  Emperor Claudious ordered the invasion of Britain in AD43.  Her rebellion against the Roman occupiers started in AD60 that lasted a year.  Died in AD61

5  The Iceni were a Celtic tribe located in an area of southern Britain known as East Anglia.  Geographically they were isolated; to the north and east the boundary was the sea and the remainder was covered in dense forest, making invasion from foreigners nearly impossible.  She invaded Londinium (London)

6  She rallied the Iceni people against the Romans through her authority as a leader and charisma as an aerator.  She was regarded a natural leader after her husband’s death

7  She was really really angry at the Romans:  Roman commanders confiscated most of their property.  She was made to pay for the debts of her husband, something she couldn’t do it and was stripped and beaten in public.  Roman soldiers raped her daughters.
