1 EARTH PROCESSES CONCEPTS BY ADIN STAGEL

2 CONCEPTS #1: beaches construct as much as they destruct. #2: A long shore current is essential for widening the beach with delta soil.

3 CONCEPT NUMBER ONE When waves hit the shore it erodes the soil and those eroded sediments will be carried down the shore and deposited. This is important because if the soil wasn’t redeposited the ocean would keep on eroding. This is good and bad because it can deposited sediments in somewhere it is needed and somewhere where it isn't needed. Also if the re is erosion in on a beach it can easily destroy land and land forms around it.

4 CONCEPT NUMBER TWO When the delta pulls sediments into the ocean a long shore current takes them and deposits them across the beach and therefor widening it. If this didn’t happen the ocean would erode the beach without refilling it. If there is no long shore current the sediments would just go straight out and form a delta without rebuilding the beach. The current goes along the side of the beach in a vertical direction.
