Exercise: “Photo Opportunity” First, 1. Select a leadership lesson from the book and think of a famous historical leader that you feel demonstrated the leadership principle you have chosen. Then, 2. Draw a portrait of the leader you have selected. Finally, 3. Be prepared to present your portrait and explain how you feel this leader demonstrated the leadership principle you have selected. 8 minutes.

Exercise: “First Things First” In Table Groups … Rank, in order of importance, the leadership principles found in the table of contents. Allow everyone in your group to provide input. (1 = most important, 7 = least important) Then, 2. Record your team’s ranking on the flipchart. Finally, 3. Select someone to present your ranking along with an explanation of how you came up with your results. 5 minutes.

Have group members share their response and list them on the flipchart. Then, as a group, review the book to find concepts that support the items on the flipchart. Finally, 3. Select someone to present the results from your entire group. 8 minutes.
