2.  “The Triumph” refers to the outcome of the Darnay’s trial in which Charles Darnay proves to be victorious again with a second acquittal  Darnay has been in prison for over a year and the subject of the trial has been a hesitant uneasy one especially for Lucie who has been waiting so anxiously for any news on her husband wondering if it was going to be the day her husband will be sent to the guillotine, so the news of Charles victory brings great relief to everyone

3.  Introduction of the tribunal  Jailers read out their lists of prisoners who for the most part end up being sent to the guillotine  Charles Evremonde (Darnay) is finally brought up in front of the court  The scene of the court appeared to be in reverse order with the rowdy, turbulent, chaotic audience having an influence in the trial outcome more so than the actual judges and jury; Darnay takes a look at the various people in the crowd  The prosecutor continuously drills questions to Darnay on his status of an emigrant which Darnay denies and the crowd in background is constantly calling for his blood  Darnay’s witnesses: Gabelle and Manette  Gabelle confirms the letter he sent to Darnay for a cry for help  Through Manette’s influence, things start brightening up for Darnay with the audience on his side and eventually the court begins to lean towards Darnay’s favor granting him an acquittal  Following his acquittal crowds of people start crying and embracing Darnay

4.  Imagery “In wild dreamlike procession, embracing whom they met and pointing him out, they carried him on. Reddening the snowy streets with the prevailing Republican colour, in winding and tramping through them, as they had reddened them below the snow with a deeper dye,…”  Zeugma “They all reverently bowed their heads and hearts.”  Parallelism (b/twn Darnay’s first/second trial) Situational Irony: Excepted- Darnay to be sent to the guillotine Outcome- Darnay gets an acquittal

5.  “Similarly, though with a subtle difference, a species of fervour or intoxication, known, without doubt, to have led some persons to brave the guillotine unnecessarily, and to die by it, was not mere boastfulness, but a wild infection of the wildly shaken public mind. In seasons of pestilence, some of us will have a secret attraction to the disease—a terrible passing inclination to die of it. And all of us have like wonders hidden in our breasts, only needing circumstances to evoke them.”
