8 PDST Resources for Leaving Certificate Physics 8 Terminal Velocity  As an object falls, its velocity increases.  This causes its air resistance, F d, to increase.  When the air resistance, F d, equals the weight, F g, the object moves at a constant velocity, called its terminal velocity.
