2 2 Federal Aviation Administration Cranes And Other Things That Go Bump In The Night March 14, 2008 2 FAA’s Obstruction Evaluation Service (OES) handles obstruction evaluations for structures located OFF airport property (2008- AEA-XXXX-OE ) FAA’s Airports Division handles obstruction evaluations for structures located ON airport property (2008-AEA-XXXX-NRA)

3 3 Federal Aviation Administration Cranes And Other Things That Go Bump In The Night March 14, 2008 3 Kevin Haggerty, Manager Bruce Beard, Supervisor (Western U.S.) Sheri Edget-Baron, Supervisor (Eastern U.S.) 25 OE Specialists and Technicians In 2007, OES provided airspace determinations for approximately 56,858 cases.

4 4 Federal Aviation Administration Cranes And Other Things That Go Bump In The Night March 14, 2008 4 14 CFR Part 77 Notice Requirements : 1) Structures more than 200 ft. AGL regardless of location 2) Structures that exceeds a 100:1 slope from the nearest point of the nearest public use runway 3) When requested by the FAA or under certain specific conditions

5 5 Federal Aviation Administration Cranes And Other Things That Go Bump In The Night March 14, 2008 5 Structures (temporary or permanent) that meet Notice Criteria must receive a written determination from the FAA Must file notice with the FAA a MINIMUM of 30 days prior to construction (including cranes) Cranes taller than structure’s determined height must be filed separately and receive their own determination
