AIL. The AIL is the designated person (normally WO or above) who assures the CO that AIC policy is being met in the unit. Independent sub-units will need one as well. Geographically disparate sub-units may benefit from having a separate AIL. The AIL is likely to report to the CO on the following: are the training roles in the unit filled by qualified personnel? does the unit have enough AISs to cover the monitoring and developmental needs of the trainers? is Def policy being met (amount of observations, timelines for having personnel trained etc)? are the AISs developing the trainers through completion of the workbook? are the AISs recording trainer progression through the competencies on JPA? is CPD being undertaken within the unit (this could be centralised CPD as directed by Defence or something as simple as peer to peer feedback and discussion)? AIS. The number of AISs is not 3, as the slide may suggest; it will depend on the number of trainers within the unit. The planning assumption is one AIS to 8 trainers. The AIS has a critical role to play and must be an experienced trainer who knows what good looks like. AISs will ideally have done the DTTT cse rather than simply DIT. The AIS should also be a volunteer and should not necessarily be the Tp/Pl Sgt. AISs have to be confident in their abilities to observe and give developmental feedback to the trainers. They will also sign off the training workbook for those who have completed DTTTv2 and record (on JPA) the trainers’ progression through the competencies within the Defence Trainer Competency Framework. Being selected to be an AIS should be seen as a reward and a privilege. Trainers. The amount of trainers within each unit will vary; the numbers shown on the slide are not prescriptive. There are 2 types of trainers. Those who are in a full-time trg PID are classed as Defence Trainers and will be trained to DTTT or DTTTv2 standard; DTTTv2 will be issued with a workbook as part of their workbased learning. Those not in a full-time trg PID will be trained on the DIT cse or its replacement (the Defence Workplace Trainer cse or the Army’s enhance version of DIT; the future trg solutions are TBC). The dotted red line. There will be 3 types of unit. It is important that LDOs/OCs are aware of the unit type before using this slide: Those with only workplace trainers (some Fd Army units) Those with workplace trainers and some Defence Trainers (some Fd Army units) Units with only Defence Trainers (e.g. ARTD units) Transition year. Trg Year 14/15 (Apr 14 – Apr 15) is the transition year for the move from DTTT to DTTTv2 and from DIT to DWT. This work is ongoing and timings remain fluid. AES sp. Although not yet confirmed, it is likely that the AES will be teaching the DTTTv2, AIS and AIL cses to the Fd Army personnel. In addition, LDOs may be asked to assist new AISs with their development by observing lessons in the unit and giving feedback, while being observed by the new AIS. The LDOs should not be the unit AIS or the unit AIL; the unit owns the trg and the AES is there to assist only. This is the authority to utilise a proportion of a MTD and claim for T&S in support of accessing free L&N courses in Local FE and Adult Community Learning establishments. (2) Local AECs and Army e-Learning Centres – The SFA have agreed to allow us to fund FS provision in the same way we do for our Regulars. (3) Provision that may be available through training programmes offered by the Reservists’ primary employer.

1st Line Unit 3rd Line TESRR Career Transition Partnership 2nd Line AEC 2nd Line Deliver Resettlement Advisory Brief (RAB) Deliver 1-1 Interview Manual adjustment for correct entitlement if required Explore aspirations Confirm skills & quals Advise on options & development individual plan There are 3 lines or level of resettlement responsibility that provide a seamless transition for the Service Leaver (SL) to take them through the transition from service life to civilian life. 1st line COs, through appointed unit resettlement officers, are responsible for the provision of resettlement advice and administration within their units They are the gateway into the resettlement system. They manage the administration to ensure maximum advantage is taken of provision. 2nd line . Regionally, groups of several military units are served by Service resettlement Advisers, who provide resettlement advice to Service leavers at interviews or group brieifings. They provide advice and guidance throughout career and during late career they focus on posr service life. They are particularly important when they pick up SL who are leaving as medical discharges and at this point there is close liason between the SRAs and theL erning Development Officers who are assigned to work in support of the Personal Recovery Units At the interview the SL will :discuss his/her personal circumstances & job aspiration, be advised on housing & schools as necessary, using MoD form 1173 be registered for the services offered by the 3rd line, be encouraged to go on a 3 day Career Transition workshop to learn about self marketing, CV writing, Interview Technique & job finding. 3rd line. This is the responsibility of the tri service TESR. On behalf of MoD TESR manages a contract with Right Management, referred to as the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) who also sub contract to the Regular Forces Employment Association (RFEA). The CTP assist and support SLs in making that transition to civilian life. CTP support stays in place for 2 years after ROD. CTP offers: Career counselling through their own Career Consultants Employment Counselling and job finding (through the RFEA) Training through the Resettlement Training Centre in Aldershot or through preferred Suppliers.
