1 Houston Striders 2010 Distinguished Member Awards

2 Runner of the Year - Criteria- Runners must be current members, representing the Houston Striders in HARRA competitions World Association of the Veteran Athletes (WAVA) tables are used to calculate age-graded data over seven distances Marathon, 30k, 25k, half-marathon, 10 mile, 10k and 5k One best performance from each category is used to select the 3 best performances Members that run for another club in the HARRA competition are excluded Winners cannot win the same division two years in a row

3 WAVA Percentages - Summary - Over 90%......................World Class Level Over 80%......................National Class Level Over 70%......................Regional Class Level Over 60%......................Local Class Level

4 Open Female - Merits - 65.4% WAVA average for three best distances Best result was 67.2% for Bayou City Classic 10k Participated in all of our relays (Cross Country, Bayou Bash, and Beach to Bay Relays)

7 Open Male - Merits - 79.6% WAVA average for three best distances Best result was 80% for USA Space City 10 miler 19 race results including 8 HARRA races Moves to Masters Division next year (to the delight of a number of our Open Male Division runners)

22 Newcomer of the Year -Criteria-  Joined club during or after November of 2009  Has participated actively in the club as a volunteer and as a runner in the community

23 Female Newcomer of the Year -Merits-  Joined November, 2010  Started running last January  Completed the West Alabama Ice House Runners 5k and the Power in Motion program  Co-Captain of 21.5 water station at Houston Marathon  Volunteered at the Transocean water station for five years  Actively runs in local and out-of-state races

24 Newcomer of the Year -2010 Female Newcomer of the Year- Tish Felts

25  Joined February, 2010  Provides leadership and coaching for inside loopers  Runs in HARRA races  Volunteers at every opportunity

26 Newcomer of the Year -2010 Male Newcomer of the Year- Steve Reddy

27 Most Improved Runner -Criteria-  Significant improvements in times over one year  Winners cannot win the same division two years in a row

28 Most Improved Female Runner - Highlights-  Consistently improved throughout the year  Best performance in 2010 is 11% higher than 2009  In 2010, best fall performance is 11% higher than early spring races  Fall 10 miler age-graded performance improved by 12% shaving off 11 minutes from her time

31 Most Improved Male Runner - Highlights-  Improved across the board from 5k’s to 25k’s  Shaved 40 minutes from 25k race  30% overall improvement

34 Volunteer of the Year -Criteria-  Endless hours of time and dedication to maintain and improves the well-being of the club  Winners cannot win the same division two years in a row  Winners cannot be on the Strider board

35 Volunteer of the Year -Merits-  Westsider Coach  South Texas Representative for the RRCA  Club Clothing Committee Chair  Tour de Art Run/Walk Coordinator  HARRA Liaison  Assists with Tent and Shed Duty  Volunteers at Most Strider Events  Received over 100 Volunteer Points
