A brand new island formed...

Awesome! Can you imagine the thrill of being the first & only people to see a new island being created... where there was nothing before?

Volcanoes Create:  Good rich soil  New Land  A base for new ecosystems  Elements such as zinc, copper, lead, sulfur, and gold  Geothermal energy  Fossils

Destructive Forces  There are five gases that are produced by volcanic activity. All of these gases are harmful except for water vapor. These five gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, fluorine, and chlorine.

Volcanoes Cause:  Destructive lava flows  Air pollution  Destruction of ecosystems  Loss of life

What do you think?  Which one releases more carbon dioxide, humans or volcanoes? Clues: Humans produce Co2 when we breath out and when we burn fossil fuels. Volcanoes produce co2 when they erupt

Answer  Volcanoes produce 200 million tons  Humans produce 26.8 billion tons
