Detailed information on chemicals prepared by the manufacturer or supplier used to aid in: –Recognition of hazards –Safe handling and use –Selection of PPE –First aid and emergency response MSDS must be readily available for all hazardous substances you work with

Formats can vary by manufacturer OSHA requires all MSDSs to include: –Chemical identity and manufacturer contact info –Information on hazardous ingredients and exposure limits –Physical and chemical characteristics –Fire and explosion hazard data –Reactivity data –Health hazard data –Precautions for safe handling and use –Control measures: ventilation, PPE

What physical and chemical characteristics might be dangerous? What kind of personal protective equipment should be worn? How do I recognize and treat signs of overexposure?
