2. General Information Nicky Byrne, short for ‘Nicky Bernard James Adam Byrne’ was born in Dublin on the 9 th October 1978. He forms part of the pop group Westlife. Nicky spent most of his childhood playing sports. He never learned to play any instruments which is something he regrets now. Nicky’s lifetime motto is: “You’re not better than anybody else and nobody’s better than you.”

3. Nicky was a fan of Boyzone. Once, on the radio he heard about an audition for a band. Then, Louis Walsh called him and said he was setting up a new boy band called IOU and that they were looking for one more person. The second audition he went to was for IOU. They liked both Nicky and Bryan McFadden most and they couldn’t choose between them. Later it was decided that they wanted both Nicky and Bryan. They changed IOU into Westside but there were companies in America called like that so they changed it into Westlife, as its known nowadays.

4. Reasons why I admire him I admire him because he’s not big- headed, gives great performances and has an angelic voice! Along with Westlife, he has sold more than 32 million records worldwide. He always wears a smile on his face, no matter what the situation is! And after all, he loves his fans!

5. What young people can learn from him  To think positive  To believe in themselves and never give up  They are not better than anybody else and nobody’s better than them.  Not to be big-headed.
