3 Key Words for Electronic Resume/Application Submission Define Primary Skills….Your Essence Determine What You Are Looking For Make Sure Resume Contains Primary Skill Keywords Focus Your Search on Those Specific Keywords Stay On Point – be Willing to Adapt and be Flexible 2012 Workforce Readiness and DallasHR3

4 Create Your Resume & Use Keywords That Describe Your Skills and Goals START: Enter the section titles of your resume Step 1: Employment - dates & job titles in sequential order Step 2: Military experience - list all military titles, dates, locations, TRANSLATE MILITARY SKILLS TO CIVILIAN SKILLS Step 3: Education - schools attended, degree, course focus Step 4: Skills – list all software, computer, technical, mechanical, etc. Step 5: Objective - what kind of opportunity are you looking for? You can find common keywords that match YOUR job objective by researching job descriptions

7 Nuts & Bolts of Electronic Submissions 2012 Workforce Readiness and DallasHR7 All job boards use Keyword’s to match resumes and job searches. Employers posting jobs on their website use Keyword Scanning to prioritize resumes to the skills they are seeking. When employers post jobs on job boards, the job boards rank the percentage that resumes match their job opportunity using Keywords. If your resume does not include Keywords that materially match the job opening you are submitting to then your resume will not be a priority. The more Keywords in your resume that match the Keywords in the job posting will determine your resume priority – but don’t go overboard…stay Honest!
