1 The activities of „K.S. Górnik Football Club” as an example of civil initiatives in Poland

2 HISTORY

3 1925 - a group of soccer enthusiasts establishes the first football club in the town of Bobrowniki Śląskie (now a district of Tarnowskie Góry). The name of the club changed over the years: 1925 – „Sokół” The 1930’s – „Jutrzenka” After World War II – „Polonia” Since 1957 – „Górnik Bobrowniki Śląskie”

4 INFRASTRUCTURE

5 Until 1987 – a wooden barrack and a football field Since 1987 – a brick building built with support of the Dolomite Plant in Bytom Since that time a lot of renovation work has been done thanks to private sponsors: 1998 - first general renovation 2000 - a fence has been built 2004 - opening of the athetic renewal facilities in the basement of the building 2007 – a tennis court and a beach volleyball field opened to the community

6 2008-2011 – the Municipality of Tarnowskie Góry dedicated EUR 130.000 to the thorough renovation of the club, as a recognition of the commitment made by the club members to raise its standards

7 ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE AND STATUTES

9 There are 4 sports instructors and 95 athletes.

10 THE GROWTH IN THE NUMER OF CLUB MEMBERS

11 The mission of the club: Propagating sports, culture and tourism Training freshmen, junior and senior soccer players and participating in soccer competitions Organizing free time for the local residents: culture events, festivals, football, tennis and beach volleyball competitions, cross-country running

12 CLUB BUDGET

13 The club is a non-profit organization. The managment and the members do not receive remuneration for their work. The club finances its activities with: donations from the municipality member fees contributions made by private sponsors

17 In spite of small budget we have 95 athletes on football, tennis and beach volleyball teams and participate in many competitions. In soccer our team is on the 3rd spot in the city of Tarnowskie Góry. 3 of our former players play now in the Polish 1st league.
