3 The Ethical Debate  focus on quality of life  murder vs. personal right to decide  key questions:  should the patient be allowed to choose when to die?  what parts should the courts play?  does society have a moral obligation to act kindly to those in distress?

4 Because We Can?  are we only keeping people alive because we have the ability to do so?  keeping people alive….population crisis  treatments available….money loss, no cures  in 2001 Canada’s health care expenditure topped $100 billion  individually Canadians spend approx. $3300 per capita on health care
