2 Activity – Dictagloss We are going to listen to and watch part a film clip from Beowulf three times. The first time you hear it, you should listen really carefully. The second time you hear it write down any verbs and adverbs you hear. The third time you hear it, focus on adjectives and descriptive phrases included in the clip. Then we will partner up and compare your notes – add verbs/adjectives you have missed.

5 Beowulf Under their fleeces and in terror they sweated and trembled wide awake to the last out worn with weariness. Heavy lidded they slept. All but Beowulf. Alone he watched. Over the misty moor from the dark and dripping caves of his grim lair Grendel with fierce ravenous strides came stepping. A shadow under the pale moon he moved, that fiend from hell, that foul enemy of god, towards Herot. He beheld it from afar that gleaming roof gleaming high to heaven. His tremendous hands struck the door. Until the wood splintered and bolts burst apart.
