THIS PRESENTATION WILL SHOW YOU A MYRIAD OF WAYS THAT THIS TECHNOLOGY TOOL CAN BE USED AT YOUR facility. AS I PRESENT, I REQUEST THAT YOU GET OUT YOUR PHONE, iPAD, ipod, computer, or any DEVICE WITH INTERNET CAPABILITY and go to the site on the top of this slide. It will be shown on the next few slides as well.

3 http://padlet.com/suazocb/tm WHAT IS PADLET?
Padlet is best described as a collaborative online bulletin board that can be used in a plethora of ways. It is the easiest way to collaborate on a topic. Teachers or administrators can pose open- ended questions and elicit multiple student/teacher/parent responses. It works like an online post-it wall, where people can put text, images, videos, or documents and collaborate together or express their thoughts on a common topic easily. Padlet can be accessed from any device! Padlet can be imported as a PDF, Excel spreadsheet, etc. and printed. Best of all, this resource is free!

4 Padlet being used on iPADS, ipods, and computers
Padlet being used on iPADS, ipods, and computers! You can use cell phones, kindles, or any other tablet.

5 PADLET ACTIVITIES ENGAGE STUDENTS AS THEY LEARN CCSS, PREPARE THEM FOR TESTS LIKE PARCC, AND BUILD SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN TECHNOLOGY AND COLLABORATION. Padlet can be integrated in Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. It also can be an effective tool for teachers to use for parent communication, planning events, collaborative lesson planning, etc. Padlets can also be utilized by administrators in a variety of ways.

6 INTEGRATION IDEAS FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Professional Development (i.e.- Administrators can have teachers ask questions prior to a session or complete a ticket-to-leave at the conclusion of a session) Getting a collaboration of ideas and feedback for upcoming staff developments, plans, or projects. For example, Ms. Blanke sent out a padlet asking for suggestions for our next 90 day plan: Reflection page – teachers can be asked to share a reflection on a variety of topics Plan events – organize easily what is needed and who is bringing Use as a brainstorming page and collect ideas Share, observe, and reflect on videos, documents, images, etc.

7 Sample MATH integration ideas
MATH examples: Pose a math question that can have various answers. Ask students to look for a new way to solve a problem and explain how they got their answer. (addresses Mathematical Practices 1-3) Another example is to have students create their own word problems that can be solved by creating algebraic equations and use their questions in assessments. (6.EE.6) – I did this with my fourth graders as an extension of 5.OA.2 Math example:

8 OTHER SAMPLE Integration ideas
ELA example: Insert two articles to the Padlet, ask an open ended question of students and ask them to answer it and support it with evidence from one of the articles. (This example addresses CC4.RI.9) ELA/Science/Social Studies: Insert a political cartoon/video/picture on Padlet that students analyze. Pose a question that they answer and and have to support with evidence from what they have seen. With students, use Padlet as a bell-ringer, pre-assessment, to assess prior knowledge, find out what students want to learn and why, as a reflection page, and much more! Use Padlet to get feedback from parents, answer questions, and address concerns.
