2 “So, what is GCSE Drama all about?” Physically exploring topics and text. Gaining skills in Problem solving Communication Team work Research skills Independent learning Creativity Analysis Diplomacy Abstract thinking Links with and supports English, Sociology, Art, Technology, Music, Media, Psychology and History. Understanding a little more about Ourselves, others and the world around us.

3 “How is it assessed?” Unit 1–Improvisation Practical - Taking part in workshops centred around a theme or issue. + Documentary evidence Unit 2 – Scriptwork Practical - Exploring ways of making a play script work on stage. + Documentary evidence + Play Review Unit 3 - Final Performance Creating and performing a play from an existing script or one you have created yourselves.

4 “Will I enjoy it?” Yes if…. You want to study a subject that is both practical and creative. You have enjoyed the drama work in the school so far. You have taken part onstage or backstage in a production. (This is always a bonus) You enjoy creating performance pieces and/or designing technical aspects. You enjoy the challenge of working as part of a team!

5 “Ok, but how does it follow on from what I have learned before?” The style of work is directly linked to the work completed at key stage 3. You will develop your improvisation and acting skills to a higher level. You will also look at plays in more detail and look at different ways of bringing a script alive on stage.
