2 Legends Conflict is present in legends. Legends are based on real people or events. The main character is a hero from the past. They are passed down from generation to generation. The stories are stretched from the truth.

3 Legend Characters Legends have an unusual power. They have an admirable trait. Legends are usually a hero or heroine Examples: Aladdin, Robin Hood, and King Arthur

4 Tall Tales Tall Tales are humorously exaggerated to make difficult situations seem funny. Story usually takes place in an American frontier setting. These stories are fictitious, but are based on the lives of real people.

5 Tall Tale Characters Characters encounter or are a part of impossible events. They are bigger, stronger and louder than real peoples. EXAMPLES: John Henry, Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill
