TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning Course on Sample treatment of environmental matrices University of Belgrade 10 th – 14 th February 2014

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Aims of the Learning Course on sample treatment To understand key aspects of treatment of environmental matrices for further analytical determination of WFD pollutants with main focus on surface water To understand basic principles of the most frequently used sample treatment methods used for extraction of organic pollutants from environmental matrices To have basic knowledge about parameters that needs to be optimised prior sample treatment procedure and their influence on overall process To give attendees basic information about methods development process To give attendees a sound theoretical knowledge of how to treat samples containing a wide range of environmental pollutants with various physico-chemical properties

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning Course on analytical methods Presenters – Graham Mills (UoP) and Zdeněk Šimek (MU) 2 rounds of lecture course: Bosnia & Hercegovina and Serbia This course consisted of two parts: –GC-MS lectures were coordinated by Prof. Graham Mills (UoP) –HPLC lectures were coordinated by Assoc Prof. Zdeněk Šimek (MU). Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina –9 th (Monday) – 13 th (Friday) June 2014 –University of Sarajevo –Local organiser: Prof. Jasna Huremovic, Prof. Tidza Muhic-Sarac –X attendees (X UBL; Y US) Belgrade, Republic –15 th (Monday) to 19 th (Friday) June 2014 –University of Belgrade –Local organiser: Ms. Gordana Gajica, Prof. Branimir Jovancicevic –12 attendees (4 UNS; 8 UB)

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Aims of the Learning Course on analytical methods To understand basic chromatographic separation principles To understand some theoretical aspects governing separation technique To understand the main instrumental components of GC (and GC/MS) HPLC (and LC/MS) To understand how changing the these components will effect the separation of analytes To understand who to trouble shoot and solve practical problemswith GC and HPLC methods

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning Course on analytical methods University of Belgrade 15 th – 19 th June 2014

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning course analytical methods University of Belgrade 15 th – 19 th June 2014

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning Course on Method Validation Presenter – Dr. Šimon Vojta (MU) 2 rounds of the lecture course: in Bosnia & Hercegovina and in Serbia Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina –17 th (Monday) – 20 th (Thursday) November 2014 –University of Banja Luka –Local organiser: Prof. Biljana Kukavica; Ms. Mirela Boroja, Ms. Jasna Friscic –8 attendees (6 UBL, 2 US) Belgrade, Republic of Serbia –24 th (Monday) to 27 th (Thursday) November 2014 –University of Belgrade –Local organiser: Ms. Gordana Gajica, Prof. Branimir Jovancicevic –8 attendees (3 UNS, 5 UB) Hours – 9.00 to 12.00 and 1.00 to 4.00 pm LOD Precision Trueness Specificity

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Aims of the Learning Course To be able to identify the factors which have to be considered when choosing a method of analysis to know where to look for suitable methods to understand and be able to identify the causes of unsatisfactory results to understand what is method validation and why it is required to give attendees a sound theoretical knowledge of how to develop and validate a method for the analysis of environmental pollutants in water, sediments and biota to have a practical knowledge of how to plan and undertake a method validation for GC-MS analysis of key environmental pollutants

Learning course on QA&QC in analytical chemistry Novi Sad, 20.10 – 24.10. 2014 Sarajevo 3.11. – 7.11. 2014 Learning course was delivered by Ivan Spanik, J. Labuda 6 persons – from Serbia, 10 persons from BIH Learning course was divided into three parts ISO 17025 Calculation of uncertainty Statistical evaluation with monitoring of trends (Control Charts) with case studies and practical examples

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting Learning course QA&QC in analytical chemistry University of Sarajevo 3 rd – 7 th November 2014

TEMPUS project NETREL 2nd annual quality meeting General practical arrangements Presenters tried to make the course interactive – so everyone can learn as much as possible during the week The speed of the course was driven by the attendees – it was not considered vital to cover every topic in full detail as each person received a complete set of talks on the Learning Course to look at afterwards (a paper copy of materials was also provided) Attendees were encouraged to ask questions during the session as they occur rather than at the end of talks In most courses were some ‘questions and answers’ every morning for cca 1.5 h to allow you to reflect on the knowledge learned in each session A practical demonstration of some sample preparation techniques, and method validation on GC/MS was arranged to gain practical understanding of techniques discussed in the classroom; Presenters were available at the end of each day to discuss topics and further questions
