2 2 Peter 1:8-9 “For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. ” Do Not Forget Your Purification

3 The Wages of Sin “The wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23) Adam and Eve were separated from God and forbidden access to the tree of life. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned... (Rom. 5:12) “You were dead in your trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1)

5 We Are Not The Judge 1 Corinthians 4:3-6 - 4 For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. Acts 17:31 - “He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained…” John 12:48 - “The word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.” Matthew 13:24-30, 37-43 – The Parable of the Tares “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:12)

6 Our Job As Christians Matt. 22:37-39 Be holy Love the truth Keep God’s commandments Draw near to God Do good unto others Repent, and confess our sins HAVE A HEART THAT PUTS GOD FIRST

7 Conclusion The church is not a social club. The church is about reconciliation with God through repentance of sin. Elders are to shepherd (guard, warn, feed) the flock to help prevent and overcome sin. Instruction, doctrine, reproof, discipline – all with that one purpose.

8 Will You Become A Christian? Hear The Gospel (Rom. 10:17) Believe in Jesus as the Son of God (John 8:24) Repent of Your Sins (Acts 17:30-31) Confess Jesus as Lord (Rom 10:9-10) Be Baptized for Forgiveness of Sins (Acts 2:38) Live Faithfully Until You Die (Rev. 2:10)
