2 The Latino community needs an up-to-date public policy and action HIV/AIDS agenda and an advocacy effort that identifies key Latino needs, sets out specific recommendations, mobilizes Latino community leadership and produces an increase in access to services and equity in funding. Purpose of The National Latino/Hispanic AIDS Action Agenda:

3 1.Build consensus nationally 2.Educate Opinion Leaders (civic, religious, media, etc.) 3. Identify 2-3 initial target actions. 4.Agree on a long term vision and strategy that will be used in identifying priority items Purpose of The National Latino/Hispanic AIDS Leadership Summit:

4 What has occurred to date: M onthly General Planning Conference Calls since March 2007 At least 55 organizations from 21 states plus District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have participated in the calls. Created National Steering Committee Held first face-to-face meeting in New Orleans with close to 40 people in attendance. Created individual Workgroups/Committees with identified facilitators and all have held their first conference call. Developed website: www.LatinoAIDSagenda.org

5 What will occur between now and January 2008: Monthly General Planning Calls are scheduled until January Call to Action to be released in September leading up to the January Summit Second face-to-face meeting in November to review first draft of the AIDS Action Agenda The National Latino AIDS Leadership Summit in January 29-30, 2008 in Washington, D.C.

6 July 2007 Workgroups continue producing the Action Agenda General Planning Conference Call - 7/24/07 August 2007 Workgroups continue producing the Action Agenda Draft of National Call to Action General Planning Conference Call - 8/28/07 September 2007 Present National Call to Action at press conference in Wash. DC. Conduct visits with key government agencies and legislators; begin mobilization efforts; launch sustained press campaign General Planning Conference Call - 9/25/07 October 2007 Congress Adjourns General Planning Conference Call - 10/30/07 November 2007 First draft National Latino AIDS Action Agenda completed Second face-to-face meeting to review draft Agenda at the U.S. Conference on AIDS, Nov 7-10th Palm Springs, CA General Planning Conference Call - 11/28/07 December 2007 Workgroups review and finalize sections of Agenda General Planning Conference Call - 12/19/07 January 2008 Congress Reconvenes Host the National Latino AIDS Leadership Summit, January 29-30, 2008 in Washington, DC PROPOSED TIMELINE
