The control version can be found on the Meraux Refinery intranet. NOTE: The Opti-Dist detects the passing of the pull through swab and will not allow test to start unless the “Cond. Cleaned” state indicator light is green. Therefore only the pull-through swab supplied by the vendor can be used to clean the condenser. 3 Choose the appropriate flask support board (38 mm diameter hole for light samples such as gasoline, 50 mm diameter hole for heavier samples like Kerosene, diesel) and place on the flask heater platform. Position the cut corner to the right rear of flask heater platform. NOTE: Opti-Dist detects diameter of aperture in support board and displays the size in front of the “Base Plate” state indicator in the starting condition list on display screen at start of test. 4 Pour 100 ml of sample into measuring (receiving) cylinder ensuring that bottom of meniscus is exactly even with 100% mark on cylinder. 5 Pour sample from cylinder into flask ensuring side arm of flask is pointed upward – if flask has no burned material on bottom, put 1 or 2 boiling chips in flask to prevent bumping. 6 Adjust temperature probe through the flask stopper using the stopper assembly holder: a.Place stopper assembly in its holder located in left rear corner of flask heater platform. b.Loosen compression nut (threaded probe sealing device). c.Insert probe through threaded nut opening until it just touches the bottom of the holder. d.Tighten compression nut until probe is securely fixed at the proper depth. e.Ensure probe is properly sealed by grasping metal sheath at probe base and applying a gentle, twisting motion. NOTE: Temperature probe should be securely fixed in position and not easily moved. 7After switching on analyzer, when the Exit button of the Welcome screen is pressed, the Run/Start & Display screen appears.

Completed Date:Prepared By:Approved By: Automatic Distillation by ISL Opti-Dist (continued) 8Press “New Test” button on lower left corner of screen. NOTE: A dialog box can appear when the new test button is pressed for the adjustment of receiver chamber temperature or the measurement of the sample charge volume. 9If any starting conditions are not met, this will be indicated by icon in front of the condition in question. 10Press on the list icon in front of “Operator” and select “PAC User” from the drop down menu. 11 Press on the list icon in front of “Sample No” to choose a pre-stored sample name or touch on the “Sample No” entry field to display the keyboard to enter a sample name/number manually. 12Press on the list icon in front of “Product” to select a pre-stored sample type from the drop down menu. 13The flask and receiver can now be set up in the analyzer. 14 Press on attachment clips and insert stopper assembly into flask neck so that side arm of flask slides into groove on stopper assembly. 15Ensure stopper is fully engaged in flask so that when attachment clips are released they clasp below lip on rim of flask neck. 16Pull flask heater platform positioning lever towards the top to release the platform in low position. 17Open door to flask heater platform chamber. 18 Position flask in vertical position on support board – insert side arm into condenser tube opening and flask stopper device into attachment device of the heater assembly. 19Ensure sealing ring on side arm of flask is well-seated into condenser tube opening to prevent loss of vapor. 20Lower flask heater platform positioning lever to raise platform so that flask is exactly centered in hole of support board. 21Close flask chamber door. 22Press latch to open door of receiving chamber. 23Place drop plate in receiving cylinder ensuring that plate touches cylinder wall. 24 Place cylinder in chamber. a.Tilt cylinder such that condenser tube is inside the receiving cylinder. b.Position bottom of cylinder on receiver stand. c.Orient cylinder so that drop plate faces front. d.Check that rubber cup covers the top of receiver. e.Close chamber door. NOTE: “Receiver” state indicator is present in the starting condition list of the Run/Start Display screen. If light becomes green, the receiver is well positioned. If light is not green, test will not start. X

The control version can be found on the Meraux Refinery intranet. Completed Date:Prepared By:Approved By: Automatic Distillation by ISL Opti-Dist (continued) 25Press the START button to begin test. NOTE: When the START button is pressed, the analyzer begins verifying the different test starting conditions. If all conditions are fulfilled, the test starts. If they are not all fulfilled, the starting condition(s) not fulfilled will be indicated in the left bottom of the Run/Start Display screen by a. 26 If a problem occurs during distillation, the Opti-Dist will trigger an alarm and in certain cases the test will be stopped – a message will appear indicating the reason. 27At the end of the test, a yellow box appears prompting user to enter amount of residue. NOTE: Residue is measured by pouring into 5 ml graduated cylinder and observing volume to nearest 0.1 ml. 28After entering residue amount to nearest 0.1 ml, press the Print icon to print results. X
