3 1.1 Introduction to Records Management Records Management Systematic control of all records processing distribution organization Storage Retrieval to their ultimate disposition. Raw data refers to unprocessed data Information Something that can lead to knowledge regardless of the medium of its conveyance to one or more persons

Defined as the smallest unit for filing Records Stored information, regardless of media, made or received by an organization that is evidence of its operations and has value requiring its retention for a specific period of time

5 Official records A significant, vital, or important record of continuing value to be protected, managed, and retained according to established retention schedule. Records management Is the systematic control of all records from their creation or receipt, through their processing, distribution, organization, storing and retrieval, to their ultimate disposition.
